Decorative Carved  Duck Decoys

David j Houle started woodcarving in his early 20s at Hallman Woodcarving a company that was around for 100 years trained for 5 years carving furniture components for high-end manufacturers, also carving casket parts and railing components for custom stair and railing companies. The former Company was sold, David decided to work in the Stair and railing industry and was hired to carve railing parts for a local Custom stair company for a year at the same time learned how to build wooden staircases between carving railing components, Being a woodcarver opened up many opportunities in woodworking and learning other woodworking trades such as Stairs and railings and cabinetry, Furniture and of course Decorative Duck Decoy s

 

 

 

  By the end of 1985, he found an attraction towards carved Decorative decoy making, Decoys being so popular at the time so began making carved mallard decoys, carved wood duck decoys, geese-carved Pintail decoys, and common Loon decoys in a variety of different sizes. At that time he sold mainly to the Gift store industry. David’s style of decorative duck decoy carving has grown over the years, his carved duck decoys have a smooth sanded texture highlighting the wood grain with carved feather detailing to the tertial and primary feather  areas showing grain, defining that they are carved out of Pinewood

Over the last 35 years, he has sold 100 s of Decorative Duck Decoy carvings to collectors all over the Western world. David's Decorative carved duck decoys are carved out of pine wood, painted using stains and acrylic paints, and Sealed with 3 coats of low-sheen finish signed and dated with the company logo. We will be adding selected Decorative carved duck decoy and loon  carvings to the site over time, be sure to come back often to check them out!
